- Scope & Content:
- The principal route runs from Shihmenkai (石門寨) (12 miles north of Chinwangtao (秦皇島)), northwards to Chienchang (建昌) and Mangniuyingtze (蟒牛營子), north-west to Kienchang Hsien (建昌縣), finally south-west to Sanshikiatze (三十家子). The other route runs from Jehol (熱河) southwards to Malankwan (馬蘭關), 2 miles inside the Great Wall.Hydrology, relief, and settlements are shown in the vicinity of the routes followed. Place-names are numbered, but the name lists to which these numbers referred was discarded as inaccurate. Corrected versions in Wade Giles romanisation have been added to the map in pencil. The sheets also include some annotations in Arabic script
