The letter reads: “To NJOYA The King of FUMBAN; Captain J.W.N.D. Tyndall wishes to express to you, on behalf of himself, the Indian Officer, N.C.O. (J) and men of the Detachment, 5th Light Infantry, Indian Army – who are now leaving this district – their united Thanks and appreciation of your conduct towards them in the supply of rations and assistance in all matters relating to the comfort and well being of the Detachment during their stay in Fumban. Captain Tyndall and all ranks wish you all prosperity in the future and a long life to enjoy the benefits and security of British rule in this country.”
