- 1. 28 January 1990. 52 Campden Square, London. Pinter to Goldstein. Typed letter (1 sheet), with two enclosures (2 sheets). Pinter recalls speaking to Samuel Beckett three weeks before he died (22 December 1989): he had sent Beckett his adaptation of Kafka's The Trial ('to cheer [him] up'). Enclosed with the letter to Goldstein: (1) 'It Is Here', a poem in typescript reprinted in Various Voices (2009), p. 184; and (2) photocopied p. 86 entitled 'Beckett / Harold Pinter', from Beckett at 60 (London, 1967), beginning: 'A short while ago, a friend of mine showed me a letter I had written to him in 1954'.
- 2. 6 February [1990]. 52 Campden Hill Square, London. Pinter to Goldstein. Autograph letter (1 sheet), enclosing a photocopy (3 sheets) of a typed letter (5 February 1990) from Ronald V. Percival to Pinter. Percival's letter is critical of Salman Rushdie (The Satanic Verses) and of Pinter's public support of Rushdie. Pinter also sent, at the same time, a photocopy of Percival's letter to Henry Woolf (see Add MS 89094/5).
