- Scope & Content:
- Description: This volume contains details of cases relating to the recovery of small debts, and includes information on Liberated Africans, Europeans, and Nova Scotian and Jamaican Maroon settlers. Information is provided on the names of the defendant and the plaintiff in each case. The entries for each case vary in length, but sometimes include information on the circumstances leading to the debt. The outcome of cases is recorded in the volume. Extent of original material: 1 volume of 318 folios. Physical characteristics of original: The volume has been re-bound in blue cloth on boards. This volume is very badly damaged. The brittle paper is torn and breaking away at the edges, and there have been extensive and overlapping repairs with tape throughout the volume. Judging by the condition of the tape, the repairs to torn pages were undertaken some years ago. There is also extensive damage from mould and mildew, and also damage from iron gall ink.
