Letters from William Cooper to Ashok Kumar Sinha
- Scope & Content:
- Cooper writes about his writing, publications, and work, his family and health, and his visit to, and lectures in, India in 1985. The discussion of his work in the letters written between 1973 and 1977 is prompted by questions presumably asked by Sinha in the other side of the correspondence (not present). Sinha wrote a thesis on Cooper which was later published as William Cooper: The Novelist. Cooper also comments on Sinha’s work and writings. A lecture by Cooper (‘Two Directions in the Current English Novel’), a paper by him on the background to his Scenes sequence of novels, and a draft introduction to Sinha’s book on Cooper are also included. Also includes a photograph of Cooper and his wife, Joyce, and of Cooper and Sinha.
