Travel diary recording the daily activities of Samuel More during his tours of West Midlands and North Wales and of North Wales and North East England.
From 7 August-14 October 1783 More travelled around Lake District, West Midlands and North Wales visiting towns including Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Broseley, Coneyborough, Coalbrookdale, Caughley, Chester, Castle Head, Carke, Kendal, Water Head, Wigan, Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Wenlock as well as their surrounding villages. More was a keen industrialist and records his visits to the New Willey Furnace at Broseley, the Snetshill works at Coalbrookdale, the porcelain works at Caughley, a Spinning Jenny at Warrington, the works at Bersham and the iron works at Horse Hay. More also describes his trips to local attractions and beauty spots including the hills overlooking the Severn and the Iron Bridge at Telford.
From 4 September-15 October 1784 More travelled around North Wales and North East England visiting towns including Stony Stratford, Ravenshead, Conway, Llanidan, Llanerchymedd, Liverpool, Lancaster, Castle Head, Carke, Kendal, Bersham, Wrexham, Shrewsbury, Broseley, Wolverhampton, Bradeley, Birmingham and Oxford. More records his visits to the copper works and furnaces at Ravenshead, the mine at Llanidan, the cotton mill at Carke, the cotton mills at Kendal, the cotton mill and iron mine on the way to Ulvastone, works at Bersham, the mine on [Llaimach] mountain, the works at Broseley and the furnace at Willey. More also describes his trips to local attractions and beauty spots and participation in country sports including fishing.
