- Description: This envelope includes information on the historic monuments in Santiago del Estero include: the old Town Hall (or Cabildo), the parish and convent of San Francisco Solano , the tomb of Absalón Rojas in the cemetery of Santiago, the sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation, Our Lady of Loreto, Our Lady, the sanctuary of Our Lord of Miracles, Jesuit Reductions in Petacas and Quebrachos, the convent and church of Saint Francis, among others. In 1904, the Municipality of the capital city initiated an independent government taking measures such as creating the city’s slaughterhouse, providing running water and pavement to its inhabitants. The creation of Schools and the Colegio Nacional (National Secondary School) fostered these important changes. Extent and format of original material: This envelope contains photos, newspapers' and magazines' clippings, postcards, booklets, laws, bibliographic reference card, maps, and typewritten documents. The material regarding the slaughter-house is loose, this is, it is not contained in an envelope.
