- Description: In addition to the previous description, this envelope informs us of the politics in Argentina from the 1910s to the 1960s. In 1912, President Roque Sáenza Peña—a son of the conservative elite that followed former President Roca—led a progressive sector of the political enclave introducing secret and universal (although women were excluded) vote. This allowed the political party Unión Cívia Radical, that was composed by part of the elite, the growing middle class, and some of the workers, to win the national elections. But, as we have seen in the previous description, the military coup of General Uriburu put an end to democratic governments. In the same way, a military coup in 1955 terminated with the democratic government of President Perón starting the military forces to become a corrupted actor to reckon. Military coups repeated themselves throughout the 1960s increasing the violent force of their irruption. Extent and format of original material:
