- Description: This envelope contrates on the visual material, especially, photographs that recorded the production of wood in Argentina. Towards 1914, industrial crops such as peanut, tobacco, cotton, and wood were the origins of regionals industries. In the case of wood its cultivation was concentrated in the provinces of Santa Fe, Chaco, and Formosa. The working conditions were poor as many of the photos confirm. The original people were part of the rural workers as they particularly concentrated in Chaco and Formosa. In this case, the railways proved to be a deterrent of economic development because the tariff to transport certain industrial products such as wood was higher that the product´s price. This situation allowed the British railways company to import wood for their use. Extent and format of original material: This envelope contains photos and newsapers' and magazines' clippings.
