- Description: Bernardo Monteagudo was and still is a very polemic figure in the Wars of Independence. He was related to the more radical politicians of 1810 and the so called May Revolution with Juan José Castelli and Mariano Moreno. He adhered to the violent politics part of the revolution. He accompanied General José de San Martín with the Andes Army and wrote the Chilean Act of Independence. He was minister in Peru and, after San Martín’s retirement, he accompanied Simón Bolívar. Monteagudo developed a vision of a great Latin American nation. He was murdered in Lima. Extent and format of original material: Envelope that contains loose materials: newsapapers' and magazines' clippings, caricatures, engravings, and photos.
