- Description: Agriculture has been for centuries the key of this country's main production. In this context, the owners of the land had constituted part of the political class in power particularly during the last decades of the 19th century and the 20th century. The division of land has been a polemic issue particularly when the European immigrants arrived as they were promised the ownership of lands. The incorporation of land for agriculture was done in the mid-1800s through military campaigns that invaded the lands of the original people to sell it cheaply to the members of the elite. Extent and format of original material: This envelope contains bulletins, leaflets, and books on the nationalisation and division of lands. The materials consists of newspapers' and magazines' clippings, plus a typewritten draft bill.
