Anonymous epitome (تلخيص) of a lost treatise by Sharaf al-Dīn al-Muẓaffar ibn Muḥammad al-Ṭūsī (شرف الدين المظفر بن محمد الطوسي; d. 1213) on cubic equations fundamental to algebraic geometry (see the epitomiser's preface, f. 35, lines 2-7, transcribed below and edited by Rashed in Sharaf al-Dīn Muẓaffar ibn Muḥammad Ṭūsī, Œuvres mathématiques: algèbre et géométrie au XIIe siècle, vol. 1 [Paris: Les Belles Lettres, 1986], p. 2).
The text contains numerous diagrams, which are collected on a fold out (f. 180r) following the text.

أما بعد حمد الله تعالى والثناء عليه والصلاة على رسوله محمد وآله فإني قصدت
في هذا الكتاب تلخيص صناعة الجبر والمقابلة وتهذيب ما وصل إليّ من كلام
الفاضل الفيلسوف الأعظم شرف الدين المظفي بن محمد الطوسي وتحويل كلامه
من إفراط التطويف إلى حد العتدال وأسقطت الجداول التي رسمه في عمل الحساب
واستنباط المسائل لبعده عن الطبع واستدعائه طول الزمان الموجب للملال ويثبت
كيفية استخراج المسائل بالبحث وجمعت بين العمل والبرهان وسميته بالمعادلات

... فإن استخرجنا المطلوب مسئلة مكعب وأموال يعدل
عددًا فنزيد المطلوب الذي يخرج على المطلوب الأوّل فما حصل فهو الجواب
الأعظم وإن استخرجنا المطلوب مسئلة مكعب وعدد يعدل أموالًا فينقص
المطلوب الذي يخرج من المطلوب الأوّل فما بقي فهو الجواب الأصغر
وذلك ما أردنا بيانه
