Treatise on the use of the astrolabe by the Andalusian polymath Abū al-Ṣalt Umayyah ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azīz ibn Abī al-Ṣalt al-Dānī al-Andalusī (أبو الصلت أميّة بن عبد العزيز بن أبي الصلت الداني الأندلسي, d. 1134).
The treatise is divided into 90 short chapters (أبواب). There is a table of yearly locations of the Sun along the ecliptic (f. 5r).
Begins (f. 2v, lines 2-10):
قال الشيخ الفاضل أبو الصلت أمية بن عبد العزيز بن أبي
الصلت الحمد لله ثعالى خير ما استفتح به واستحج ببركته وصلى الله
على الصفوة من خلقه وسلّم. هذا الباب يتضمّن من أبواب
العمل بالأصطرلاب لا بدّ منه ولا غني عنه وما إذا فهمه
الناظر فيه فهمًا بالغًا لم يعرف عنه فهم سائر ما عسي أن يقع له أو يلقي
عليه من المسائل الجزئية التي إنّما ترك الكلام فيها لدخولها تحت المعاني
الجامعة الكليّة ولم يورد فيه من الأبواب والفصول إلا ما كان
جميع عمله أو اكثره مما يمكن بهذه الآلة أمّا ما كان على خلاف
ذلك فلم نشتغل به والله الموفق للصواب

الوتر فما كن فهو التعديل ثمّ انظر فإن كان دليل الفلك
