Settings for narrator, soprano, brass band. Words: D. H, Lawrence. The material comprises:
- ff. 1-28. Autograph score, black ink (295 x 417 mm oblong), signed and dated at the end of the work (London 1985), some narrator's words attached by clear tape;
- ff. 29-52. Autograph vocal score (A4 photocopy), signed and dated in the original score (18 September 1985);
- ff. 53-58.Typed texts of six poems by Lawrence: 'Piano'; 'Cherry Robbers'; 'Violets'; 'Conundrum' [sic]; 'Red Herring'; 'Bells'.
Commissioned by East Midland Arts for the D. H. Lawrence Centenary Festival, 1985. First performed: 24 September 1985, Jessie Boot Hall, Nottingham, by the Desford Colliery Dowty Band. Cond.
