Reading Collection: 'Dhar and Mandu. Souvenir'.

Half-leather album, 375x495mm, containing mounted prints interleaved with tissue. Each sheet of tissue has a caption which refers to the relevant prints as well as the label: 'Vernon & Co., Photographers & Publishers, Bombay'. The title is stamped in gold on the cover along with the Dhar State coat of arms and a star motif with the words: 'Heaven's light our guide'. Although in the Reading Collection, this album commemorates the visit of Lord Hardinge (Viceroy, 1910-16) to Dhar and Mandu in November 1912. It is almost an exact duplicate of Photo 10/13 with only a few additions.
