Reading Collection: 'Investiture Bahawalpur, Presentation Album'.
- Scope & Content:
-
Red half-leather bound album measuring 315x425mm, with prints mounted one to a page on the recto of each sheet, captioned in a neat hand beneath each photograph. Title as above written in decorative script on first page of album, above the following dedication: 'With best wishes from Sadiq Mhd Abbasi V , Nawab of Bahawalpur'. A metal badge in the form of the state's coat of arms is set into the front cover. The album is in poor condition, with pages almost completely detached from the covers. The quality of the prints themselves is, however, generally good, with little fading but with some brown staining from either water of mould damage in the past.
The album documents the viceregal visit to Bahawalpur in to celebrate the investiture of His Highness Captain Sir Sadiq Mohammad Khan as Nawab of Bahawalpur. Also included are a number of topographical views and architectural studies of notable buildings.
Process = Geltine prints
Photographers = Frederick Bremner, ;
