Half-leather album, 550x420mm, containing a mixture of photographs, newspaper cuttings, programmes, invitations, addresses of welcome and other memorabilia. The album is untitled and the prints are only partially captioned although they relate to adjacent press cuttings, etc. The album records Reading's 1922-23 tour of India in the following order: portraits of the C-in-C and officers; view of the Khyber Pass; Kashmir - group by Dhal Lake; Alwar - shikar scenes; Dehra Dun - lunch during a shoot; Attock - view of the Fort; Taxila - Viceroy and staff inspecting site; Delhi - unveiling the statue of Lady Hardinge at the Lady Hardinge Medical College; Shimla (Simla) - departure from Summerhill Railway Station, interiors of the Viceregal Lodge, stage set for theatre production, garden party, King's Birthday Parade, Lady Reading's rickshaw, various portraits including the singer Dame Nellie Melba, topographical views of the town and surrounding countryside; Mashobra - the 'Retreat' and social life scenes; Indore - arrival at the railway station, at the Residency, visit to the hospital, opening the Lady Reading Women Teachers Training School, Investiture of the Maharaja of Rewa, topographical and architectural views including state buildings and temples, boys bathing in a river, a Boy Scout, view of the Industrial Exhibition of local arts and crafts, group portraits, a Bhil war dance; Gwalior - arrival, views of the palace, review of the Gwalior State Forces, shikar scenes (including dead antelopes, the Maharaja in a palanquin, the beat and dead tiger), durbar scenes, dancers and musicians, views of the Fort; Patna - group portrait probably at Government House; Calcutta - presenting trophies at the Ezra Cup Polo Tournament, garden party at Belvedere, social life and sports scenes at the Viceroy's Cup (racing), Proclamation Parade on the Maidan, shipping and local craft on the Hooghly, Girl Guides rally at Belvedere; Bhopal - arrival, Lady Reading meeting the Begum, shikar scenes; Sanchi - views of the stupa; Delhi - garden party held at the meeting of the Chamber of Princes, group portrait of the Chamber of Princes (Narendra Mandal), unveiling the statue of Lady Hardinge at the Lady Hardinge Medical College and opening the Lady Reading Hostel for nursing staff at the College, topographical and architectural views of Delhi including the Jami Masjid, the Qutb and Humuyan's tomb, Delhi Horse Show; Bharatpur - scenes from a duck shoot, the Fort; Jodhpur - views of the Fort and other buildings including the Jami Masjid, Investiture of the Maharaja of Jodhpur.
