(Members of Council, seated, left to right): George Noble Taylor; Sir Charles Trevelyan; Sir Hugh Henry Rose (Lord Strathnairn); Sir John Lawrence (Lord Lawrence); Sir Robert Napier (Lord Napier of Magdala); Mr (later Sir) Henry James Sumner Maine; Mr (later Sir) Willaim Grey.
