Photograph of a ghat at Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, from the Murray Collection, taken by John Murray in the mid-1850s, from the Murray Collection: 'Photographic views in Agra and its vicinity'. Vrindavan is a pilgrimage town on the bank of the Yamuna river. This is a view of one of the bathing ghats overlooked by temples. An annual festival to Krishna takes place in the town, as it is situated near the forest where Krishna sported with the gopis.
