Loose photographs the majority of which are mounted. Topographical and architectural views including Burma, a panorama of Port Louis, Mauritius, Beato's views during the Allied Forces march on Peking, Agra and its environs, Delhi, Kashmir, panorama of Calcutta, Lucknow, Benares, Kangra, Sarkhej, Ahmadabad and Sri Lanka.
Prints 67-116 form an incomplete series (wanting plate 1) of woodburytype views of examples of Indian decorative and applied arts, originally published as Fifty-one Photographic Illustrations Taken by Order of the Government of India of Some Selected Objects Shown at the Third Exhibition of Native Fine and Industrial Art Opened at Simla by His Excellency the Viceroy on the 24th September 1881 (London: 1883).
Sir Richard Carnac Temple (1850-1931), Indian Army, was an administrator in Burma and the Andaman Islands and writer on anthropological subjects.
