Scope & Content:: Maroon half-leather bound volume measuring 405x357mm containing prints mounted one to a page with letterpress captions pasted beneath each image. The thick card pages of the album are somewhat bowed. The album contains a series of anthropometric studies of male Andaman Islanders, posed naked full-face and in profile against a checked grid. The two-inch square grid pattern is intended to give a uniform scale against which figures of differing racial types could be compared. Several of the men photographed in this volume have their full physical details recorded in Photo 188/8, and assuming that the photographs were taken on the same occasion as the measurements were made, it is possible to assign these photographs to 1893.
