Loose prints mounted on modern acid-free card and inserted in Secol sleeves. The original captions are mounted below each print.
The prints can be broken down into the following broad subject groups:
Prints 1-43 Views in Bombay, Elephanta, the Bhore Ghat Railway Incline and others parts of western India. A number of these are by Johnson & Henderson and duplicate material in Photo 140, and several more in this series at present unattributed are also almost certainly by them.
Prints 44-57 These views of Bijapur form an incomplete set of Henry Hinton's publication The Ruins of Beejapoor (Bombay, 1860), a series of 19 views. The accompanying letterpress to this work is included with the collection.
Prints 58-102 Views of Madras, Bangalore, Ootacamund, Tirunveli and other locations in southern India. Among this material is Hooper & Western's series of Tiger Shooting photographs, some of which are duplicated and some of which appear in variant form in Photo 2/2.
Prints 103-111 Photographic copies of sketches recording the damage done by the 1864 cyclone at Masulipatam.
