Red cloth-bound album, with 'Photographs' stamped in gold on front cover, and measuring 273 x 218 mm. Prints are mounted two to a page in window mounts, the majority briefly captioned. The photographs are of competent amateur quality and several give a good picture of European family and social life in India. The contents of the album can be broken down into the following broad subjects:
Prints 1-25 Views at Quetta, the N-WFP and Sibi (Baluchistan), including views of the Railway Institute (5-6), 'our bungalow' and compound (7-14), The Mall (15-18), a Beluchi village (21), old fort at Sibi (23-25).
Prints 26-34 Shipboard scenes and English views.
Prints 25-54 Views at Karachi, including exterior and interior views of 'our bungalow' (a substantial two-storey stone house) (37-43), railway bridge with ferry steamers at Kotri (45-46, 49-50), Spalding family on a railway trolley (47), the Lahore Mail train (48), children's birthday party (51-52).
Prints 55-77 Views at Darjeeling, including family groups and portraits (55-58, 61-63), White Hall, Darjeeling (59-60), general views of the hill station and surrounding hills (64-75), Darjeeling Hill Railway (76-77).
Print 78-90 Views at Kanchrapara, including two views of a large house (?the Spalding residence) (78-79), the Club (80), family groups (81-87), Eastern Bengal State Railway Offices (89) and workshops (90).
