Sir James Robert Dunlop Smith Collection: Album of portraits and views in India and Europe. Photographer(s): Bourne and Shepherd
- Scope & Content:
-
Blue and black half-leather album, 280x385mm, containing mounted prints, newspaper cuttings, theatre programmes, postcards, invitations and other ephemera. The album has a broken spine and is in need of rebinding. It was probably compiled by one of Dunlop Smith's daughters, Janet or Nora, as many of the cuttings, etc, refer to them and the captions describe Dunlop Smith as 'Daddy'. The photographs are a mixture of formal group portraits, mostly featuring the Earl of Minto, and snapshot views of historical events in India, with some family snapshots in the British Isles.
