Black cloth-bound album measuring 320 x 435 mm, containing 322 uncaptioned prints, mounted from one to nine to a page. The lack of captions make identifications difficult, but the material can be broken down into the following broad categories:
Prints 1-127 Views in northern India: Himalayan mountain scenery, views in (?)Nepal, ethnic groups.
Prints 128-143 Miscellaneous views in Bengal, including temples at Bhubaneshvar, informal snapshots.
Prints 144-153 Formal portrait groups at different occasions, some taken by Johnston & Hoffmann, including a wedding group, a cricket team, groups taken during the visit of the Prince of Wales to India in 1922, and groups in academic robes (with the Viceroy Lord Reading).
Prints 154-167 Groups and views taken at official functions, including the visit of the Prince of Wales in 1922 (showing Government House, Calcutta, with illuminations).
Prints 168-281 Views in Sikkim and the Himalayas.
Prints 282-301 Views and groups taken at official functions in Calcutta and elsewhere.
Prints 302-314 Prince of Wales' visit to India 1922: opening of the Victoria Memorial, celebrations and performances at the Calcutta Races.
Prints 315-324 Miscellaneous functions and portrait groups. Prints 321-2 appear to show the unveiling by the Viceroy Lord Reading of a statue of the Marquess of Zetland in the grounds of Belvedere House, Calcutta.
