- (1). ff. 1-12. Libretto (annotated cue sheet) for Moonflowers (Op. 83), a mixture of typed and autograph sheets (pp. 1-11). With original file-front annotated by Arnell.
- (2). ff. 13-22. Letters from the Canadian poet Ralph Gustafson with the following dates: 8 July 1994; 4 December 1994; 15 February 1995 (enclosing three typed poems: 'Sarjevo 1994'; 'Hate'; 'Petrarch 1995'); and photocopied biographical information from a dust-jacket about Gustafson. Letters from Betty [Gustafson] with the following dates: [December 1994] - 'Season's Greetings' card incorporating message; 12 September 1995; 22 March 1996; 10 April 1996.
- (3). ff. 23-38. Commissioning Contract (dated 1 November 1995) between Ian Bruce-Jones and Richard Arnell relating to song-cycle for Yvonne Robert (soprano). With related notes by Arnell and two autograph letters from Bruce-Jones to Arnell dated 5 February and 24 March [?1995]. With printed biographical information about Yvonne Robert, and an autograph letter (24 November 1995) from her to Arnell. Also, original storage envelope-front annotated by Arnell referring to his settings of Robert Bridges (Op. 181) and Emily Dickinson (Op. 182).
- (4). ff. 39-62. Letters and notes relating to a project headed: 'Underground Railroad / Zong'. Includes letters from James Walvin (author of Black Ivory: A History of British Slavery); and Geri Solomon (University Archives, Hofstra University, New York) with photocopy enclosures regarding the Afro-American journalist Louis Lomax and poetry by Jupiter Hammon. With a newspaper cutting (The Times, 13 July 1995: 'Tourists trace slave roots'), and the original storage envelope front annotated by Arnell.
- (5). ff. 63-91. Correspondence (1995-96) with the poet Beata Duncan regarding settings of her poems (see MS Mus. 1774/3/8). Includes copies of several poems by Duncan, some pencil sketch material, and a letter (30 December 1994) from Duncan to Donald [Hoffman] who introduced Arnell to Duncan's poetry.
