Maroon half-leather album, 252x350mm, containing mounted prints identified in an accompanying manuscript list, from the collection of Sir Denys Pilditch. The photographs are ethnographical studies of men and women from various tribes and castes, the majority appear to be criminals and may have been photographed for police work. There are also detailed photographs of counterfeit money.
Sir Denys Pilditch (1891-1975) joined the Indian Police, UP, in 1912 and later served from 1939-45 as Director of the Indian Intelligence Bureau.
