Scope & Content:

Red full-leather bound album measuring 307x405mm, title as above stamped in gold within decorative borders, with photographer's credit also stamped in gold and reading: 'Raja Deen Dayal & Sons Bombay & Secunderabad'. Bound at the Caxton Works, Bombay. The last page of the album is signed and dated 'Raja Deen Dayal & Sons Bombay 5th July 1903'. The prints, which are all in excellent condition, are mounted one to a page, with handwritten captions beneath. The album documents the Viceroy's autumn tour of 1902, and shows scenes at Datia, Orchha, Mandu, Kota, Bundi, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaipur. Detailed accounts of the itinerary and tour can be found in Account of the visit of His Excellency the Viceroy and Governor General of India to Rajputana. 1901 (Calcutta, 1904), a copy of which is located in the Curzon Collection (Mss Eur F.112/475).
