Curzon Collection: 'Presented with feelings of friendship and sincere admiration to Lord Curzon of Kedleston, Viceroy and Governor-General of India, by H.H. Rasulkhanji, Navab Junagadha. 1900'. Photographer(s): Nelson, F.
- Scope & Content:
-
Brown full-leather bound album measuring 378x477mm, with title as above stamped in gold within decorative borders. Prints are mounted one to a page with letterpress captions pasted beneath. The majority of the prints are topographical and architectural views in Junagadh state, with a few portraits of the rulers of Junagadh (prints 1-5), and three views of the camp in which Lord Curzon was accommodated during his visit to Junagadh in November 1900 (prints 49-51).
The majority of the prints are duplicated in Photo 10/18, which is credited to the Solankee Studio, Rajkot. However, the prints in that album are of inferior quality, and the high degree of contrast suggests that they might be copy prints from another, unidentified photographer's negatives. Print 6 also appears in Photo 2/6 (4), credited to F. Nelson, and other views in the album may also be by him.
