The photographs record the hunting trips undertaken by the viceregal party during Curzon's tour of Eastern Bengal in 1904. According to the itinerary for the tour (see Mss Eur F 112/473), the party camped 'on Sinkerkati Chur on the bank of Arial Khan river, Backarganj District', from Sunday 21st to Thursday 25th of February, before returning to Calcutta.
