Scope & Content:

Collection of 46 loose prints of South-East Asia acquired by Lord Curzon from various sources. The material can be broken down as follows:

Prints 1-10 Views of Burma by an unidentified photographer; mainly studies of ethnic types, including Kaws, Paloungs and Shans. Some prints have descriptive notes written in pencil on the reverse. The work is similar in style and subject matter to photographs by Sir George Scott.

Prints 11-21 Views of Vietnam, a number by P. Dieulefils. Mainly topographical views, but including a few portraits.

Prints 22-46 Architectural views of Angkor Wat, photographed by L. Pestel of Saigon. These prints were ordered by Lord Curzon from the photographer, and sent to him with a covering letter dated 22 February 1893.
