Scope & Content:

Brown cloth-covered (imitation leather pattern) photograph album measuring 240 mm x 312 mm, containing prints mounted one to a page with photo corners, and with tissue interleaving between each page. With handwritten captions, presumably by Sir Conrad Corfield, beneath each print.

Biographical note: Sir Conrad Laurence Corfield (1893-1980) joined the Indian Civil Service in 1920 and transferred to the Political Department in 1925, serving in Kathiawar, Baluchistan, Rajasthan, Central India and Hyderabad. He was Joint Secretary, Political Department, Simla, 1934-38, Resident at Jaipur 1938-40, Resident for the Punjab States, 1941-45, and Political Adviser to the Viceroy as Crown Represenative 1945-47.
