Blue and black cloth-covered album, measuring 240 mm x 312 mm, containing prints either pasted in or held with corner mounts. The collection is captioned and dated throughout. The photographs are mainly snapshots of places visited by Walter Campbell in the North-West Frontier Province and Rajasthan and include: general topographical views, social life (picnics, tea parties), visits to forts and frontier posts, meetings with Indian rulers, portraits, military ceremonies, horse racing at Razmak, residencies, flying light aircraft, partridge shooting and weddings.

Prints 7-11: Sheikhbudin, June 1928.
Prints 12-47: Hangu and Fort Lockhart, November 1928-Summer 1929.
Prints 48-64: Bannu, December 1929-March 1930.
Prints 65-69: Journey out from England after leave, October-November 1930.
Prints 70-145: Bannu and environs, November 1930-Summer 1932.
Prints 146-177: Rajkot, Autumn 1933-Winter 1935 (including a visit to Kachch).
Prints 178-192: Alwar, Winter 1935-1936 (including a visit to Agra).
Biographical note: Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Walter Fendall Campbell (1894-1973) entered the Indian Army in 1914, was seconded to the Civil Administration in Iraq from 1919-20 and joined the Indian Political Department in 1921, holding various posts in districts and agencies in Baluchistan and the NWFP from 1921-33. He later served as Prime Minister, Alwar, 1935-36, Political Agent, Bundelkhand, 1937, Resident in Waziristan, 1939-40, Resident for Central India, 1942-46 and Resident, Mysore, 1946-47.
