Black half-leather bound album, 277x378mm, spine piece missing and album block loose. The letters 'C.F.S.' are stamped in gold on the front cover. The album contains general topographical and architectural views in Scotland and England and scenes of construction work on the Tay Bridge.
Prints 1-4 Views of Princes Street and Dean Bridge in Edinburgh. Print 5 The Exchange, Liverpool. Print 6 Broughty Ferry. Prints 7-11 Street scenes and the docks, Dundee. Prints 12-13 St George's Hall, Liverpool. Prints 14-81 Various views of construction work on the Tay Bridge, Dundee, interspersed with miscellaneous portraits and views. Prints 82-119 Miscellanoeus views and portraits including groups of students at a college (in fancy dress and in cadet uniforms). The college is unidentified but is possibly an engineering college in Scotland.
From the collection of Charles Frederick Sykes (great-uncle of the donor). C.F. Sykes trained at the Royal Engineering College, Cooper's Hill, and subsequently served as an engineer in India until his retirement in 1906.
