Peter Ernest Slack Collection: Album of views in India and Ceylon. Photographer(s): Slack, Peter Ernest
- Scope & Content:
-
Red cloth bound album measuring 323x272mm, with title 'Sunny Memories' stamped in black in top left-hand corner. The album is in poor condition, with album block partly detached from boards and water staining and damage to covers. Prints are pasted down onto album leaves beneath window apertures in various sizes and formats. Captions are written in white ink on the window overmounts.
The album contains snapshot views taken mainly in Jabalpur (where Slack was a foreman in the Gun Carriage Factory), but also in Calcutta, Bombay and Sri Lanka. A number of the prints are also duplicated in Photo 518/1. It has been assumed that Slack himself is the photographer except where he himself appears in a print.
