Collection of original glass negatives (Neg 527/2), with modern contact prints. The contents of the collection can be broken down as follows:
1-26 Views in Calcutta, 1890s.
27-49 Views in Darjeeling, 1890s
50-54 Views taken at Dumraon during the Survey of India party's visit there to observe the total eclipse of the sun of 22 January 1898.
55-74 Miscellaneous views in Bengal and unidentified locations, 1890s
75 Copy negative of executed Chinese pirates at Hong Kong, 1891.
Contemporary prints from a number of these negatives can also be found throughout Photo 527/1, and this is noted in the print listing when it occurs.
Henry Haward was a member of the Survey of India Photographic Department at Calcutta from 1884-1905.
