Scope & Content:

Mock-leather photograph album measuring 230x177mm, with prints mounted two to a page in window apertures, with handwritten captions in ink. The contents of the album can be broken down as follows:

Prints 1-4 Views at Delhi, 1929. With two views of construction work at New Delhi.

Prints 5-15 Views at Agra, 1929. Mainly architectural.

Prints 16-29 Views at Madras, including view of the Divisional Office of the C.-in-C., 1929.

Prints 30-70 Voyage home, S.S. 'Aquileja' leaving Bombay and views at Aden, Suez, Naples, Rome, Venice, Milan, 1929.

Prints 71-96 Views in England, 1930.

Sir Norman Frederick Frome (1899-1982) joined the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department in 1923, after service in the RAF. He was appointed Director of Telegraphs 1937, Postmaster General 1941 and Chief Engineer 1946.
