Scope & Content:

Green photograph album, half-bound in imitation leather, measuring 255 x 305 mm, stamped 'Photographs' in gold on front cover. The prints, mainly small snapshots, are mounted several to a page with brief handwritten captions beneath. The album contains general views in and around Bombay, with a number of photographs relating to Rowland's work as a member of the Bombay Plague Commission. The first page of the album is signed 'Sydney Rowland, Plague Commission -05 Bombay'. Rowland was presumably a member of staff of the Bombay Bacteriological Laboratory at Parel, since he appears in the group portrait at print 1.
