Sir Frederick Sykes Collection: Album of miscellaneous views and portraits.

Black half-leather album, 307 x 420 mm, containing uncaptioned prints mounted with adhesive corner mounts. The photographs are the work of commercial photographers covering events attended by the Governor of Bombay and are mostly informal shots, with only a few formally posed portraits. The majority of the events are unidentified and undated, both on the mount and print verso, but one can assume they took place during Sir Frederick Sykes' period in office as Governor of Bombay 1928-33.

Print 7 (caption on verso) Portrait with the Governor, Raja and officials, during a visit to Akalkot (Raja Shrimant Vijayasinhrao Bhonsle). Prints 36-61 (some captioned on verso) Views of the visit of the Governor of Bombay to Karachi to open the new Law Courts and perform other official functions. Photographs include his arrival on the Vita, inspecting the Guard of Honour, speech-making, the opening of the Law Courts, and meeting Boy Scouts. Prints 62-66 Opening of the Muslim Hostel at Hyderabad (Sindh)? Print 67 Group portrait with the Governor and Baluchi/Sindh officials?
