Composite photograph containing 136 heads of family, friends and associates of Dr John Murray. The print is accompanied by a manuscript list identifying the sitters, in the same hand as the captions throughout the album (probably Murray's). Titled, The list of the heads in the pictures, the list contains the following note: 'You will see that C.S. stands for Civil Service and C.B. for Commander of the Bath, and you will notice that the name of the 'Agra Levy' has been changed into the 42nd Native Infantry. After I have sent you this list, you must always 'look up' any one whom I may mention in my letters! and try and fancy what they are like!'. (This note contains one inaccuracy; the Agra Levy became the 38th Bengal N.I. not the 42nd). The list appears to number the heads starting at the top with Mr Ross, moving anti-clockwise round the edge and spiralling towards the centre, although positive identity of all the individuals is problematic: '1.
