Green full-leather album, 318 x 445 mm, containing mounted prints, the majority captioned by hand, from the collection of Walter Hawkins Nightingale, Public Works Department. The initials 'A. M. N.' are stamped in gold on the front cover. The photographs are mainly views of Shillong and its vicinity before and after the 1897 earthquake which destroyed it, including views of the Ward Lakes, bungalows, government buildings, bridges and railways. Portraits include the Chief Commissioner of Assam, Sir William Ward and staff, and miscellaneous European groups at Shillong and Imphal.
