Black cloth album measuring 317x435mm (supplied by W. Newman & Co. of Calcutta), containing prints inserted on corner hinges, the majority with brief handwritten captions. From the collection of Sir James Sifton. The album contains formal portraits and snapshots, together with an extensive documentation of Government House, Ranchi. There are also several good quality portraits of official colleagues.
Sir James David Sifton (1878-1952), entered the Indian Civil Service in 1902. He served as Governor of Bihar and Orissa 1932-36 and Governor of Bihar 1936-37.
