Scope & Content:

Maroon half-leather bound album measuring 380x278mm, binding in poor condition (spines and boards detached, many leaves loose), containing 91 prints by amateur and commercial photographers, the majority captioned in red ink beneath the photographs. The album appears to have been compiled by P.J. Corbett, a Public Works Department engineer involved in irrigation work at the famine relief camp at Shetphal Tank in 1897 and in canal construction in Sindh in the early 1900s. Corbett himself appears in a number of the photographs. The albums contains a series of view of the famine relief camp at Shetphal Tank, topographical views of Sindh (commercial work), group portraits of PWD staff, amateur snapshots, and views of canal construction work on the Desert Canal and subsidiary waterways.
