Scope & Content:

A selected series of printing-out paper prints from material also found in Photo 1000, made from the original glass negatives (Neg 1000), probably in the 1890s. Prints have been allocated the same number as the corresponding original copy in Photo 1000. The material in this collection can be broken down as follows:

Prints 1678-1683. Views at Sanchi, c. 1883. Photographs by Lala Din Dayal. (6 prints).

Prints 2047-2106. Stereoscopic views of the Ajanta Caves, 1868. Photographs by Robert Gill. (55 prints).

Prints 2108-2228. Sculpture fragments from Amaravati, 1884. Photographs by Henry Cousens. (85 prints).

Prints 2900-3261. Architectural views in Southern and Western India, 1868-69. Photographs by Edmund David Lyon. This series contains a few variants not found in Photo 1000 (308 prints).

The prints have been removed from the original acidic mounts, and re-mounted on acid-free board.
