The pillar is photographed still standing in the partially-excavated hole at the find spot. Reproduced as a lithograph in Alexander Cunningham, Report of tours in North and South Bihar in 1880-81 (A.S.I. vol. XVI, Calcutta, 1883), pl. xxiv and described pp. 65-67. Also described in detail in H. B. W. Garrick, Report of a tour through Behar, Central India, Peshawar, and Yusufzai 1881-82 (A.S.I. vol. XIX, Calcutta, 1885), pp. 20-21.
