- Scope & Content:
-
Blue half-leather album, 384x330mm, containing mounted prints. The photographs were taken by the Archaeological Survey, Bengal Circle (later Eastern Circle), between 1902-05 and listed in its Annual Report. Copies of each year's report precede the photographs for that year, as follows:
Year Photo no
1902-03 1-127 (two prints missing due to broken plates)
1903-04 128-294
1904-05 295-381
There is also a cumulative list of the prints at the beginning of the album, sent by the Government of Bengal to the India Office along with the photographs in 1907.
The photographs, including views of architecture, sculpture and relics, were taken under the direction of the Archaeological Surveyor, a post held at the time by T. Bloch.
