Archaeological Survey of India Collections: Eastern Circle (New Series), 1920-21. Photographer(s): Archaeological Survey of India
- Scope & Content:
-
Blue half-leather album, measuring 385 x 327 mm, containing mounted prints. The photographs were taken by the Archaeological Survey, Eastern Circle, in the season 1920-21 and listed in the Annual Report which precedes the prints. Unlike the previous Eastern Circle photographs the numbering does not follow on sequentially, as a note in paragraph 8 of the Annual Report states: 'The serial numbers of the old negatives now preserved in this office may be obtained from the list of photo-negatives published in February 1920. A new series has been commenced from this year, and in future it will be necessary when requisitioning prints to refer to the serial numbers of the old or new series, as the case may be'.
The photographs, including views of architecture, sculpture and relics, were taken under the direction of the Officiating Superintendent of the Archaeological Survey, Eastern Circle, a post held at the time by K. N. Dikshit.
