Collection of 247 loose prints (some duplicates), in good condition, the majority uncaptioned. The collection contains good quality photographs of scenery, people, dress, customs, art and architecture in 'Indian Tibet', but unfortunately most of the prints are uncaptioned. The captioned material includes the following subjects: two bundles of prints in envelopes labelled 'Lahul'; one bundle of prints in envelope labelled 'Rapshu'; view of Leh; rock sculptures (Buddha images) at Padam; high altar at Garo Gantal Gompa, Lahul; silk applique work in temple, Geimar Gompa, Lahul; images in Gumrang Temple, Lahul; Tibetan landowner's house, Spiti; Lahul women dancing at the summer festival, Garo Gantal Temple, Lahul; view of Garo Gantal Temple on the hillside above the monastery, Lahul; cantilever bridge over the Bhaga River, with Garo Gantal Gompa beyond; Spiti Valley from Dankhar village; Bonpa boy with Spiti yak at Kiangdan, Rapshu; village in Suru valley, Ladakh; lamas of the Sakya Sect in front of Tangzud Monastery, also called Sakya Gong-mig.
General subjects included in the collection are as follows: mountain scenery and general topographical views, travellers and camp scenes, agriculture, architecture (domestic and religious), monasteries, chortens, sculpture (religious images in wood and stone), portraits (with good examples of dress), religious ceremonies and dances (including masked performers).
