'The late Tsering Drolma carrying a child outside the entrance to her mud house in Pangmo. Women shave their heads when they become nuns or when their husbands die and they decide not to remarry. Like most nuns of her generation, Tsering lived within the family home, dedicating her life to prayer and religious practice but also undertaking occasional domestic work' (Patrick Sutherland).
