Commercially produced photograph album (volume one of four), measuring 210 x 310 mm, half-bound in blue and green cloth, with title as above stamped in gilt on upper board. The volume contains 25 gelatin silver prints, mounted one to a page on card (recto only), with letterpress captions printed beneath each image. The four volumes in the set, totalling 89 prints, document each stage in the process of jute manufacture, from growing the crop to export of finished bales. The first volume records the stages involved in preparing ground, planting, harvesting, washing, drying and the coiling of crop into drums.
